Client

Falabella is one of Latin America’s most established retail brands, with a history that spans more than 135 years and a customer base of over 36 million people. Operating in nine countries and supported by a team of 90,000 employees, the company has grown into a true omnichannel ecosystem, combining a strong eCommerce presence with an extensive network of physical stores.

Its portfolio includes some of the region’s most recognized names-Falabella, Sodimac, and Tottus-and extends beyond retail into banking with Banco Falabella, shopping destinations through Mallplaza, and home solutions via its IKEA partnership in Latin America. By bringing together its retail heritage with a clear focus on digital innovation and customer experience, Falabella continues to shape seamless shopping journeys for millions across the region.

The Challenge

Falabella, one of Latin America’s largest retail giants, faced significant roadblocks with its legacy ATG platform. The outdated system was slowing down innovation and making it harder to deliver the seamless omnichannel experiences today’s customers expect. Key challenges included:

Outdated Tech Stack – The aging ATG framework lacked the flexibility, speed, and agility needed to keep up with modern eCommerce demands.

Inefficient Environment Management – Critical configuration files were not version-controlled and lived directly on servers, creating risks and inefficiencies.

Knowledge Bottlenecks – Core architectural knowledge was siloed with a handful of individuals, creating dependency risks and slowing down transformation.

Rising Operational Costs – Maintaining the old infrastructure was not only expensive but also resource-heavy compared to modern, scalable cloud-native platforms.

This combination of outdated technology, high costs, and limited scalability was preventing Falabella from driving digital transformation at the pace required for a competitive retail and eCommerce landscape.

The Solution

NULogic designed and delivered a robust, cloud-native migration strategy:

  • Cloud-Native Infrastructure: Deployed scalable, virtualized environments using Azure and Docker for lower environments.
  • Environment as Code: Empowered teams to create their own development environments per sprint, enabling parallel workstreams and reducing dependencies.
  • Phased Execution: Used iterative methodology, frequent validation, and collaborative planning with the client.
  • DevOps & Automation: Integrated continuous deployment pipelines, enabling faster and more predictable releases.
  • Secure & Compliant: Leveraged encryption, cloud-native security features, and auditing to ensure compliance.

The Results

  • Faster Time to Market: Agile workflows and DevOps automation significantly accelerated development and releases.
  • Reduced TCO: Lower infrastructure and maintenance costs thanks to the cloud-first architecture.
  • Improved Performance & Scalability: Elastic environments adapted to business demand without impacting stability.
  • Business Continuity: Decentralized platform ownership and version-controlled environments eliminated operational bottlenecks.
  • Stronger Customer Experience: Enables a faster, more reliable ecommerce experience across devices and channels.
